When the folks on stage start talking about his family and how much they’ve done for the country, he feels a growing resentment. Karim is a rebel, unlike Abdel, who has faith that the established order would provide a fair resolution to the murder of his brother. He is transformed into a soldier of revenge as a result of the misery of seeing the murder of a loved one at the hands of those in whom they were meant to place their trust.
