In “Cobweb,” director Samuel Bodin creates a haunting atmosphere as Peter experiences mysterious bumps in the night and hears a voice trapped in his bedroom wall. Though initially scared, the voice becomes a source of comfort for Peter, but it soon becomes apparent that it may not have his best interests at heart. Despite the eerie setup, the film struggles to live up to its horror aspirations, with predictable jump scares and a lack of suspense. Several plot elements, such as a missing trick-or-treater and bullies, are introduced but left unresolved, contributing to a disjointed narrative. While Woody Norman’s portrayal of Peter and the performances of the cast offer some depth, “Cobweb” ultimately falls short of delivering a truly gripping and engaging horror experience.
